Trash Fort

Andy Doro

Trash Fort was built in May, 2004 on a large pile of concrete blocks, earth and rusted metal debris on a site behind the Hammond Hall Sculpture Building at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut. The site was chosen for its unwelcoming nature and apparent uninhabitability. Less than 30 feet away lived a small community of homeless persons.

The Trash Fort was constructed almost entirely from materials found in the dumpster behind Hammond Hall. The artists slept in the Trash Fort for one night.
